Tower Apartments

FSP Tower will likely have the most wasteful range of numbers, but the idea will be to provide a subscriber number that is related to the apartment number. In this regard, it would make sense to have more units on a floor even if that would have meant a shorter building. However, this will not be realistic. I will assume a long city block will only be able to hold around 20 family units, or 60 SRO?s. With this in mind, the numbers will have to be filled in with other resources. The number distribution is as follows:

  • 0701-0760: 7th Floor Apartments
  • 0801-0860: 8th Floor Apartments
  • 0901-0960: 9th Floor Apartments
  • 1001-1020: 10th Floor Apartments
  • 1101-1122: 11th Floor Apartments
  • 1201-1222: 12th Floor Apartments
  • 1301-1322: 13th Floor Apartments
  • 1401-1422: 14th Floor Apartments
  • 1501-1522: 15th Floor Apartments
  • 1601-1622: 16th Floor Apartments
  • 1701-1722: 17th Floor Apartments
  • 1801-1822: 18th Floor Apartments
  • 1901-1922: 19th Floor Apartments
  • 2001-2022: 20th Floor Apartments
  • 2101-2122: 21st Floor Apartments
  • 2201-2222: 22nd Floor Apartments
  • 2301-2322: 23rd Floor Apartments
  • 2401-2422: 24th Floor Apartments
  • 2501-2522: 25th Floor Apartments
  • 2601-2622: 26th Floor Apartments
  • 2701-2722: 27th Floor Apartments
  • 2801-2822: 28th Floor Apartments
  • 2901-2922: 29th Floor Apartments
  • 3001-3022: 30th Floor Apartments
  • 3101-3122: 31st Floor Apartments
  • 3201-3222: 32nd Floor Apartments
  • 3301-3322: 33rd Floor Apartments
  • 3401-3422: 34th Floor Apartments
  • 3501-3522: 35th Floor Apartments
  • 3601-3622: 36th Floor Apartments
  • 3701-3722: 37th Floor Apartments
  • 3801-3822: 38th Floor Apartments
  • 3901-3922: 39th Floor Apartments
  • 4001-4022: 40th Floor Apartments
  • 4101-4102: 41st Floor Apartments
  • 42xx: Penthouse

As you can see with the SROs, xx61 on is not being used. 10th floor will only have 20 numbers in use for its purpose, and there are 22 units up through floor 40. 41 range – 43 range is intended for the need of the penthouse. With that said, random need numbers will fill in the remaining gaps working from low to high. Therefore, if 0799 was used, then the next number will likely receive 0861 since 0801-0860 is already in service. This will help fill in the gaps.

Now, you might be asking why not just go in complete numerical order? Well the reason is simple. The initial reason for acquiring an exchange is for the Tower. I wanted to have a range of numbers, and assurance that the apartment number matches. For example, apartment 701 will receive subscriber number of 0701. Since there is no apartment 761, it won’t make things easy when you start giving 0761 to an 8th floor unit. It would make more sense to provide apartment 801 with subscriber numbers of 0801. 20 unit or smaller apartments might get the fill in numbers since there is no assurance that their apartment number, and subscriber number matches.

Each apartment will also coincide with the intercom system. The visitor picks up the handset, and dials the apartment number which will ring the phone. The programming of this will make life easier for the person that would manage the telephony server.
